Having included activities, calm clear water, top shelf drinks, adults only and quality a la carte (vs all buffet) were some of our key components when choosing a resort. Sandals Royal Plantation is located in Ocho Rios, Jamaica about an hour and a half from Montego Bay Airport. It is one of my personal favorite all-inclusive resorts, anywhere. Boasting old world charm from the moment you enter the lobby, you are met and checked in by very friendly butlers greeting you with a chilled towel and a chillier Mangosa (champagne and mango). I was very impressed with Beaches Negril Resort & Spa. It is located on a beautiful stretch of white sand on Seven Mile Beach in Jamaica. Despite having such a large beach and pool area, there are only 210 rooms. There are 5 restaurants (including 1 adults-only) along with the three available at Beaches Sandy Bay. (more…)
Couples Swept Away in Jamaica is a beautiful resort. As the name refers to, the resort wants to sweep you away from the stress of your daily life. As with Couples Negril, the lobby is wired for Wi-Fi, and there is free internet access in the lobby. The lobby has the same Caribbean sea foam green color scheme as Couples Negril. (more…)

I visited this property during a travel agent familiarization for Aubree’s Travel. The Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island is a smaller Sandals property that I really like. I think the rooms are very nice, the grounds amazingly well kept, and the off-shore island is a HUGE perk. I really like the “British Colonial” feel of this property. (more…)
We spent a relaxing and fun week in Negril, Jamaica at Couples Swept Away. Negril, on its own, is a great destination in Jamaica. The people are very friendly, laid back and they love music. Negril is the party section of Jamaica and couldn’t be any further from the turmoil in Kingston if it were on the moon. (more…)
I recently returned from Jamaica with the Jamaica Tourist Board & was able to see Secrets St. James Montego Bay & Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay. Both are very similar with just a difference in theme. Secrets St. James is more of a British Colonial type with earthy colors, while Secrets Wild Orchid has more of an Oriental Flare to it. (more…)

In September, I stayed at the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach in Montego Bay, Jamaica. This resort is set along a beautiful stretch of beach. The staff and the food were excellent. Their nightly shows were typical island shows but still fun to watch. (more…)
Secrets Wild Orchid and Secrets St James Montego Bay are beautiful resorts in a very scenic setting with the hills in the background. The resort sits on a private stretch of beach on the beautiful turquoise Caribbean Sea. Secrets Wild Orchid is closer to the restaurants and the bars and is much livelier while Secrets St James is about a 5 minute walk to the restaurants and is much quieter. (more…)

I just returned from the RIU Palace Tropical Bay in Negril, Jamaica where we spent 4 nights there on Aug 21-25. The front desk staff on arrival is excellent. We arrived too late for dinner reservations for the 1st 2 nights and ‘Cloyd’ (like Floyd with a C) took it upon himself to get us reservations for the 1st two nights. If you are looking for a stress free vacation, stay at the Riu Ocho Rios in Jamaica. Everything is no problem, mon. The rooms offer fabulous ocean views. Their in-room mini bar is a really great touch. The beach on Mammee Bay is perfect and the sand is white and soft. The water is beautiful shades of turquoise. (more…)

I visited the Rose Hall Resort & Spa in April 2009 and was impressed with its family friendly atmosphere which was at 97% occupancy. The Rose Hall Resort is located in Montego Bay, which is a good location. Montego Bay isn’t a long bus ride from the airport and there are a lot of activities and sightseeing close by. (more…)

I vacationed at Breezes Runaway Bay back in 1998 and then recently revisited the resort again in April 2009, which is now the Breezes Resort, Spa & Golf Club Runaway Bay. My Husband and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary at the Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rosehall in Jamaica. This property was well maintained and the staff was wonderful. They treated us as if we were on our honeymoon! Our 1 bedroom oceanfront suite was fantastic. The suite had two full bathrooms, two flat screen TV’s and a huge balcony that over looked the Caribbean Sea. (more…)
This past November I spent three wonderful days at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Jamaica. This hotel is set on a long stretch of beach in Montego Bay surrounded by the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach hotel on one side and the Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall on the other side. I just returned from the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I found the hotel to be a good value for the money you pay. The hotel is a little older, but most of the rooms have been updated. The bathrooms were on the small side, but they were clean and stocked with shampoo and lotion. My Lady (as they say in Jamaica). I just got back from staying at the Rose Hall Resort & Spa, A Hilton Resort with 36 lady golfers. The hotel which is located just 15 minutes outside of Montego Bay, just recently went through renovations which were very nice. I have just returned from the luxurious beachfront Royal Plantation resort in Jamaica. Lush tropical garden pathways and Almond trees surround this fabulous resort. This boutique hotel is made up of all suites. All rooms come with oceanviews, divine furnishings, pillow menu, walk-in closets and spacious bathrooms. (more…)
The Royal Plantation in Ocho Rios, Jamaica is a special resort full of history. It’s tranquil, service oriented, friendly with great food. All the rooms have ocean views or at least a sliver of an ocean view. I would encourage taking out the meal plan which can be done once you arrive. One of the good things about the meal plan at the Royal Plantation is that you do not need to take out a meal plan for your entire stay at the resort. (more…)
We just got back from the Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa in Jamaica. At Sandals we were upgraded to butler category which was wonderful!!!! It’s nice to be spoiled and not have to think while on vacation. Service in the whole place was outstanding!!! Sandals Dunn’s River is just the right size. The rooms and views of the pool and beach were gorgeous. The pools were outstanding and the beach was nice; not small but not crowded. (more…)
