Secrets St. James Montego Bay and Secrets Wild Orchid

Secrets Wild Orchid and Secrets St James Montego Bay are beautiful resorts in a very scenic setting with the hills in the background. The resort sits on a private stretch of beach on the beautiful turquoise Caribbean Sea. Secrets Wild Orchid is closer to the restaurants and the bars and is much livelier while Secrets St James is about a 5 minute walk to the restaurants and is much quieter. (more…)

RIU Palace Tropical Bay

I just returned from the RIU Palace Tropical Bay in Negril, Jamaica where we spent 4 nights there on Aug 21-25. The front desk staff on arrival is excellent. We arrived too late for dinner reservations for the 1st 2 nights and ‘Cloyd’ (like Floyd with a C) took it upon himself to get us reservations for the 1st two nights. I visited this all-inclusive adults-only resort for my 10th anniversary and absolutely loved it! The grounds at the Valentin Imperial Maya Resort & Spa are large and beautifully landscaped with many gardens, water-features and wildlife. Because of the layout, we never felt crowded even though we were there at a busy time. This resort is a great choice for a relaxing, romantic vacation. (more…)

Azul Sensatori Hotel

We stayed at the Azul Sensatori Hotel in Riviera Maya for an entire week with a 4 year old who didn’t want to come home, so I can tell you this hotel is fabulous for kids! The Azulitos kids club here is the best equipped I have ever seen. The place is always immaculate and everyone there is so friendly. I LOVE the Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The resort is less than 20 minutes from the thatched roof of the Punta Cana Airport. Zoetry Casa del Mar Los Cabos

I visited Zoetry Casa del Mar Los Cabos back on August 9-13, 2010. It was off season, but the resort has only 88 suites. The property is beautifully landscaped and located on an excellent beach. The food was awesome and all of the menus put a foot note at the bottom listing calories, fat, carbs, etc as this is a spa type resort. (more…)

THE ROYAL in Cancun

We recently stayed at THE ROYAL in Cancun and may I say the property does have the “WOW” factor. Every room in the resort has a view of the ocean, and the rooms are amazing with Jacuzzi tubs and double headed marble showers, aroma scents, private pillow menu and separate check-in can be added by booking the Royal Service and its so worth it. Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

From the moment we arrived, this resort was drop dead gorgeous with mosaic tile and granite everywhere. The main building at the Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun resort displays an impressive lobby where you can find a wonderful bar stocked with top shelf liquor, including Grey Goose and Don Julio. This lobby also houses several upscale gift shops and a beautiful lobby much like you might find at any 5 star resort. (more…)

I can not say enough nice things about the Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii. For the price, the value is excellent. The hotel is a 5 star property, deluxe and elegant but low key. Occidental Grand Punta Cana

It is well worth your while to upgrade to the Royal Service at the Occidental Grand Punta Cana. The Royal Service area is a little oasis within a huge resort. The Royal Service section is a two story building with lovely rooms that surround a small swimming pool with fusion music piped in at a low decibel. It is not a pool for laps, but for a refreshing dip when you want to get off the lounge chair. (more…)

My husband and I recently stayed at Couples Tower Isle, Ocho Rios, Jamaica for the third time. We’ve been to Jamaica 7 times, but this is our favorite resort. The journey starts when you arrive at the airport. The Iberostar Paraiso Maya shares a pool with its sister property, Iberostar Paraiso Lindo but offers much nicer rooms and furnishings. The soft goods are updated and are in soft neutral colors. I returned home from Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun in April and plan to return again in November. I have been going to this property in the Riviera Maya twice a year since it opened in August 2008. I have yet to find a more suitable place for adults. If you’re looking for an all-inclusive escape with a beautiful beach, the ability to have steak & shrimp for lunch in your suite or by the pool, then this is the place for you. (more…)

Riu Palace Riviera Maya

Riu Palace Riviera Maya is your typical Riu hotel with the dark Spanish accents and traditional Spanish décor. It is a little nicer than the Riu Palace Mexico, since it is newer and a little more updated. The rooms are the typical junior suites with nice bathrooms with double sinks and nicely tiled baths with a shower in the bathtub. The Maroma Resort & Spa is a lovely little hotel! It is part of the Orient Express brand and it is like a mini Royal Hideaway on a much nicer beach and not all inclusive. WOW!!! Was my first impression when I was greeted in the open air lobby of the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui, with a beautiful fresh orchid lei. The stunning open air lobby, filled with colorful flowers and amazing sculptures overlooking the deep blue Pacific was an awesome sight.
