Couples Negril

My new husband and I have traveled all over the world, but Couples Negril was our first all-inclusive. Having included activities, calm clear water, top shelf drinks, adults only and quality a la carte (vs all buffet) were some of our key components when choosing a resort. Couples Negril in Jamaica was a perfect choice for us. We loved that we did not have to worry about anything, but enjoying ourselves. (more…)

Azul Sensatori Hotel

This Karisma Resort has 438 suites and opened in 2008. The Azul Sensatori Hotel caters to families and destination weddings, but it also has an adults-only section with private adults-only pool. Secrets St. James Montego Bay and Secrets Wild Orchid

Secrets Wild Orchid and Secrets St James Montego Bay are beautiful resorts in a very scenic setting with the hills in the background. The resort sits on a private stretch of beach on the beautiful turquoise Caribbean Sea. Secrets Wild Orchid is closer to the restaurants and the bars and is much livelier while Secrets St James is about a 5 minute walk to the restaurants and is much quieter. (more…)

I just returned from the RIU Palace Tropical Bay in Negril, Jamaica where we spent 4 nights there on Aug 21-25. The front desk staff on arrival is excellent. We arrived too late for dinner reservations for the 1st 2 nights and ‘Cloyd’ (like Floyd with a C) took it upon himself to get us reservations for the 1st two nights. From the moment we arrived, this resort was drop dead gorgeous with mosaic tile and granite everywhere. The main building at the Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun resort displays an impressive lobby where you can find a wonderful bar stocked with top shelf liquor, including Grey Goose and Don Julio. This lobby also houses several upscale gift shops and a beautiful lobby much like you might find at any 5 star resort. (more…)

Iberostar Paraiso Maya

The Iberostar Paraiso Maya shares a pool with its sister property, Iberostar Paraiso Lindo but offers much nicer rooms and furnishings. The soft goods are updated and are in soft neutral colors. The bathroom has a separate shower/tub and double sinks. There is also a sofa with pull out double sized bed in the sitting area. (more…)

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

I returned home from Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun in April and plan to return again in November. I have been going to this property in the Riviera Maya twice a year since it opened in August 2008. I have yet to find a more suitable place for adults. If you’re looking for an all-inclusive escape with a beautiful beach, the ability to have steak & shrimp for lunch in your suite or by the pool, then this is the place for you. (more…)

Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso

The entrance at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso is grand in everyway and includes an indoor garden that reminds me of the Bellagio in Las Vegas. All the marble and carpeted hallways leading to the rooms are located inside…something that is unique to most if not all the Riviera Maya resorts. All the rooms are Junior Suites and are very nicely done with good quality furnishings and the bathrooms have a separate toilet room, shower and upgraded amenities. (more…)

Occidental Grand Punta Cana

It is well worth your while to upgrade to the Royal Service at the Occidental Grand Punta Cana. The Royal Service area is a little oasis within a huge resort. The lovely rooms surround a small swimming pool with fusion music piped in at a low decibel. It is not a pool for laps, but for a refreshing dip when you want to get off the lounge chair. Riu Palace Riviera Maya

Riu Palace Riviera Maya is your typical Riu hotel with the dark Spanish accents and traditional Spanish décor. It is a little nicer than the Riu Palace Mexico, since it is newer and a little more updated. The rooms are the typical junior suites with nice bathrooms with double sinks and nicely tiled baths with a shower in the bathtub. Zoetry Agua Punta Cana

I recently visited Zoetry Agua Punta Cana on January 16-19th, 2010. Starting with the ride from the airport (50 minutes), we could not have asked for a nicer vehicle or better Amstar staff to travel with. Gran Melia Puerto Rico

The ride to the Gran Melia Puerto Rico was about 30 minutes. The property is located in the Coco Beach area, east of the airport. The entire Coco Beach area is beautiful and still under development. Next door is the Trump Resort and golf course and soon to be built is a Marriott. The complex that is the Gran Melia covers many acres. I recently visited Dream Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa. This Puerto Vallarta property is located very close to town, but far enough away to still have a secluded feeling. The resort sits up against the mountains which gives you a great, spectacular view of the ocean and part of the town. All of the rooms are oceanfront and offer great views of the surrounding area. Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa

Upon arrival at the Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio, we were greeted by our own private butler (Israel) who catered to us 24/7 for our entire 8-day stay in Jamaica, which included a personal cell phone for “on-demand” service. Some of the services that the butler provides are unpacking of luggage; beach chairs, towels and cooler reserved on the beach daily; dinner reservations every evening with no wait, flowers and candles were always on the dinner table. I loved EVERYTHING about the Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa, it has a very Italian romance feel in the Caribbean. I have stayed there three times, and I am ready to go back.
