GOGO Vacations

The Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana

With a few airlines flying nonstop every day, you can be in Punta Cana and on the beach by 2 pm. We arrived in Punta Cana and were on our way by taxi within an hour. We arrived at The Majestic Colonial and checked in at the front lobby. The lobby was as large as I have seen for any hotel. Our room (one of 658 rooms on property) was not ready as we were early… So they put our wrist bands on and told us to go enjoy lunch at the buffet restaurant down stairs. This is an all inclusive resort, and your wrist band is your ticket to everything.

The Room…

We were done with lunch and our room was ready… The bell hop took us on a long walk through a courtyard lined with palm trees and beautiful plants on the way to our room. This was a junior suite with everything you would need. Rooms come with either a king size bed or two full size beds, complete bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, independent walk in shower, hair dryer, air conditioning, ceiling fan, satellite TV, leather sofa, telephone, high speed Internet connection at $10.00 a day, mini bar, safety deposit box, coffee maker, desk, iron and ironing board, independent door for room service, and terrace or balcony with chairs.

The Pool…

After we settled in, we were off to check out the resort. Let’s start with the pool; it has to be the largest pool I have ever seen. It runs the whole length of the resort. From the beginning to end it is about 175 yards long, winding all the way down to the beach. At the end there is a massive pool bar and this is where all the action is. There is music all day and an animation team that creates fun for the singles, couples, and for your family all day long. You can find a quite pool spot along the way or hang at the pool bar for some crazy fun. It is that large, with three pool bars along the way. If you want a good spot at the pool, you should get up early… I would place our pool towels and flip flops on our chairs. People will leave a claimed spot alone.

The Beach…

The beach was large, spacious, and the sand white and pink. The water was 85 degrees and as beautiful as one could imagine. What I liked about the beach? There was a coral reef on one part of the beach about 30 yards out, and the snorkeling was great! They will provide you with your snorkel gear free, and there are fun activities for you to participate in daily. If you want a good spot on the beach, I would do the same as we did at the pool.

Restaurants and Bars…

There are 9 restaurants and 9 bars on this property, so you will not go hungry or thirsty.

Supreme: The Main Buffet restaurant offering Italian and International food with several show cooking areas. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is air conditioned. Our rating on this restaurant is 2 ½ stars. Breakfast was good, but lunch and dinner was just ok.

Night Time…

There is night time entertainment in the outdoor theater. A different show every night and one show not to be missed is the Michael Jackson Tribute Show. You will think you’re watching the real thing live. I know he is no longer with us, but the show was awesome!!!

Kids Show…

They also have a kids show nightly at 8:30 pm that my 5 year old loved. Each night it’s a different theme and they get to participate on the big stage. They really go all out for your children.

Kids Club…

A Kids Club that has a castle with water slides, indoor/outdoor play area, arts and crafts, and movies. If you want, there is a trained and qualified staff that will give you some time to yourself.

Adults…

For the adults: This resort shines at night and comes alive. They will entertain you till the early hours of the morning. The action is packed!!! You can sit and watch great music or dance your tail off. There is a disco that’s open to 4am and a sports bar to catch your favorite sports team in action. Want to play? The Casino has slots and table games for you to try your luck. The main lobby bar is where people gather nightly to hang out and the bartenders make you feel like you have known them for years. There are excursions you can book in the front lobby. From snorkel trips, swimming with dolphins, swimming with stingrays, party cruises, golf, and much more.

Here is where this resort shines. PERSONALITY!!!

From the front desk, housekeeping, and the grounds keepers are as friendly as it gets.
I cannot say enough about every employee at this resort. They were so kind to my children and made them feel as comfortable as they could. Always stopping to say hello to my girls, 5 and 3 years old. Always a smile on their face and no matter what they were doing, they took the time to stop and say hello.

Our Rating for this resort is 4 Stars… As personality goes a long way with fun!!!

4 night packages start from $699 per person to this gem….
