Soak up the sun in Riviera Maya
I spent a couple of days in May in Riviera Maya at the Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun and the Royal Hideaway. Here is a brief description of my experience:Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun
Great resort with a younger crowd, mostly due to the summertime weddings and honeymoons. The rooms were very large with beautiful bathrooms. We were lucky enough to get ocean front accommodations, so the views were wonderful. We ate at the seafood restaurant (Oceana) and the Italian restaurant (Portifino); both were excellent with very friendly and prompt service. There were plenty of activities to choose from or ignore; whatever your personal pleasure is. The beach was very nice with powdery white sand and plenty of room to take a nice long walk. The resort is not so small that you can’t find a quiet spot, yet it is very intimate.
The Spa was wonderful. The minute you walk in you feel relaxed with beautiful furnishings, music and aromas. The facilities are incredibly beautiful and serene. We were very impressed. If you receive a $100.00 spa credit, I would encourage you to use it.
Royal Hideaway Playacar
I don’t think I can say enough about this 5 star resort. The only flaw is the very short beach front. There was room for about three rows of lounge chairs and some walking space. But the water in this area is so blue it makes up for the short beach. The property has individual units that are three stories high and have about 6 rooms on each story. Each unit has its own personal concierge to attend to your every need with very little lag time. When you walk into the main lobby area your luggage is collected and you are taken to the cool reception area where you are seated and offered a cold towel and a glass of champagne. You are checked in and told that your baggage will be delivered to your room when it is ready and you are free to enjoy the facilities. When you enter your unit the concierge is there waiting to help you with dinner reservations and any other excursion or information that you need.
The rooms here are a little smaller but beautifully appointed with upscale mahogany furniture. We were given one of the closest units to the beach and pool and you could walk out to the balcony that faced the ocean. The atmosphere at this resort was a lot more subdued and catered to a little older crowd, possibly due to the higher prices. The restaurants that we experienced were fantastic. The Las Ventanas is very slick, modern and upscale. Service is impeccable and everyone was trained to say, “My pleasure”. The other restaurant that we enjoyed was the Pilazzo, the Italian restaurant with a very romantic atmosphere with Opera music playing and very subdued lighting. The food was very good.
The Spa was small but very nice, still nothing like the Secrets Spa.
I would be happy to send you to either of these fabulous resorts so that you can have the same beautiful experience that I had.
