Sandals Grande Ocho Rios
I have stayed at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios in Jamaica a number of times and would go over and over again if I had the time! This resort is perfect if you want a resort with lots of variety. This property is like two resorts in one as it is split into two sections/sides. There is the “Manor” side which is built right into the Blue Mountains and the “Riviera” side which is located right on the beach. Even though this property is large, there are complimentary shuttles that will take you back and forth between the two sides.
There are many different room categories to choose from depending on the view, amenities, and services you would like out of your stay.
Sandals Grande Ocho Rios has 11 different restaurant choices and 12 bars. Not only do you have endless possibilities onsite, you have a complimentary shuttle to the neighboring Sandals Resort, Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio, where you have 6 more dining options and 6 additional bars. One of my favorite restaurants at the Grande is Valentinos which is authentic Italian food in a fine dining setting. I am also a big fan of Arizonas which is Southwest/Tex-Mex style food in a casual setting set up directly on the beach.Aside from the dining there are some great bars. A great bar onsite is Beverly’s Piano Bar where you can take part in nightly sing alongs and if dancing is more your style there is Nicole’s Disco that opens after the nightly show/entertainment. Each day/night there are plenty of activities that you can take part in. One night during the week they have their “Beach Party” with a wonderful buffet where you can eat with your feet in the sand and listen to fantastic reggae band. Sandals Grande Ocho Rios has some great beach space and I always been able to find a lounge chair at any time of the day. The beach is split into three sections. The first section of beach good for swimming is near the “Beach Club” and within steps to a swim-up pool bar; the second is in the center of the resort and is surrounded by the Grand Promenade, and the third section is where you will find the water sports center where you have many activities to choose from including snorkeling, glass bottom boat rides, kayaks, and windsurfing to name a few. If you are more of a pool person, there are a number of different pools located throughout the resort and three of them have the swim pool bars.
There are also many sightseeing tours and attractions located in the Ocho Rios area if you would like to see more of the island. Activities such as zipling, horseback riding, biking, and swimming with the dolphins are within minutes of the resort.
