Rosewood Mayakoba
The Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya was one of my favorites. Every room is a suite with a living room, huge bathroom with large round tiled tub for 2, and a glass walled shower with a back door leading to an outdoor shower. There is also a patio with a private plunge pool, in every room category. Some of the suites, called lagoon suites, are located directly over the lagoon. The resort also has some beautiful oceanview suites, some with multiple levels, where the patio is on the roof that overlooks the beach and sea. Then there are beachfront suites where you can walk right out onto the beach.
The spa at the Rosewood Mayakoba is beautiful. The architecture blends in very well with the jungle environment. It is still a golf cart ride to get to and fro but the property is not quite as large (it seemed) as the Fairmont Mayakoba or the Mandarin Oriental.
The Rosewood Mayakoba is ultra deluxe in every way. There is also a kids club, although it is hard to picture families here. However, the staff did say families come, especially during the holidays. The golf course in Mayakoba is a championship course, becoming famous already and I could see why. The fairways were in great shape and the surroundings are stunning.
