Real Resorts
The Gran Porto Real Playa del Carmen and THE ROYAL in Playa del Carmen are all inclusive resorts that are owned and operated by the Real group in Mexico. They are across the street from each other in Playa del Carmen, a couple of short blocks away from thriving 5th Ave, a busy street filled with top notch restaurants, bars, live music and shopping.We stayed at the Gran Porto Real Playa del Carmen as we brought the kids. I can say that the food was excellent and the service was fabulous. It was kid friendly with an experienced staff to organize activities to keep everyone busy. We had a wonderful time at the Gran Porto Real.
I was also able to take a tour of THE ROYAL in Playa del Carmen across the street. I would recommend this resort for a honeymoon couple, an anniversary couple or even older folks. It is for adults only, but teenagers over 16 are allowed.
I did not see many young people there so it is safe to say that this is perfect for a nice quiet get away. There are also reciprocal privileges with the Gran Porto Real so people had a wider variety of restaurants to choose from. It is a very elegant, quiet resort. The pool area was much quieter than at the Gran Porto Real and had a nice swim up bar. The beach area is also one of the nicest for this area.
So, depending on what your needs are, either kid friendly, lots of activities, or quiet and restful, these two properties are definitely on my “favorites” list.
