Outrigger Reef on the Beach, Waikiki
I stayed at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach in Waikiki in May 2009. It was the first time I had seen the resort since they remodeled. Wow, what an amazing job they did. I think the major addition to the rooms has to be the new bathrooms. The bathroom and vanity area are separate and they now have added bathtubs to the rooms. The decor is so warm and inviting, and there was a lot of attention to detail in this remodel, like wood framing around the sliding glass doors on the closets, and a frosted glass framed door for the bathroom. I just looked around the room and said, “this is sooo nice, I love it”. The beds are extremely comfortable. The extras that are included are a huge bonus. It took me a day to realize that I did not need to use my cell phone as phone calls are free to the US and Canada as well as internet in the room and public areas.The people that work at the resort really work hard to make your stay enjoyable. The second time I saw my housekeeper in the hallway she spoke to me by name and asked me how my day had gone. I was so impressed that she had remembered me even though I was just getting out of the elevator and not in my room. Everything about this property is first class without being over the top. You get the feeling that you are family (Ohana) from check in until check out.
Eating at the Shore Bird is a must. It is such a relaxing laid back experience. I make it a point to eat there every time I am in Waikiki.
In my opinion the Outrigger Reef on the Beach, Waikiki is truly a resort that will appeal to couples, families, singles, and seniors.
