Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club
Earlier this month, we visited Kauai, Hawaii and it has quickly become one of our favorite islands. Kauai is one of the most stunning places on Earth. Its astounding beauty creates a perfect backdrop for the Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club. We visited this property on one of our site inspections and came to appreciate it much more than I anticipated. I have sent many clients to the Kauai Marriott Resort because it was a great value but wasn’t sure if I liked the location and I heard that the beach was a beach cove and not very desirable. I was very pleasantly surprised on both counts. It is just minutes from the airport on the east coast of Kauai, a short walk or drive from the town of Lihue with lots of shops and dining options. You can see the cruise ships pulling into harbor right from the beach and the beach is nicer than many other hotel beaches, including many in the Poipu Beach area. It is a long sandy beach with enough room for a great game of beach volleyball. It is calm since it is not on the open seas but rather the harbor- a nice change from many of the beaches in Kauai. I was very impressed with the beach and now feel that it is an asset to the property.
As far as the location goes, honestly, once you pass through Lihue and pull into the Marriott parking lot, you are in a separate world and don’t realize you are so close to town or the airport. You enter a covered portico which leads down to a main lobby. The first thing you see past the reception area is the koi pond where the fish are virtually leaping into the air. Watch out at feeding time! The kids love to gather round to watch them.
The pool is a huge single level pool (the largest single level pool in all of Hawaii) and is flanked by gazebos. These large gazebos are a great place to people watch or just relax and enjoy a drink. The pool is only 4 feet deep- so no diving- but rather a wonderful and safe spot to relax.
The rooms are newly renovated. In fact, the corner suite was still being touched up before being made available for guests. The pool area grounds were in the final stages of renovation - new restrooms will be added near the pool by the end of 2009. The beachside restaurant will be re-opened shortly. Some features include Kauai Lagoons Jack Nicklaus championship golf, an expansive calm and swimmable beach and oceanfront dining all set on 800 acres of paradise just steps away from shops and dining in Lihue.
Amenities include: Complimentary Airport Shuttle, Complimentary Fitness Center, Day Spa and Salon, Kauai Beach Boys with surf lessons and Kalapaki Kids Club. There are also six restaurants on property: newly redesigned Kukui’s on Kalapaki Beach featuring daily breakfast buffet with local ingredients and Pacific Rim cuisine, Duke’s Canoe Club has local island fare and great fresh fish specials, Cafi Portofino offers Northern Italian dishes, Aupaka Lounge has tropical drinks with Kauai-made Koloa Rum and fresh fruit juices, Kalapaki Grill with casual poolside snacks and drinks and brand new Oceanfront Toro-Tei Sushi Bar where you can enjoy specialty sushi with light ocean breezes and wonderful views. For a unique dining experience, enjoy a romantic evening in your own private seaside cabana or private gazebo overlooking the pool. Your personal server will greet you with a fresh flower lei and free-flowing champagne to start out your enchanted evening.
I think the Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club offers a great location for those clients who want to be in between the North and South Shores of Kauai and the new renovations make the Kauai Marriott Resort a very strong 2nd choice for my clients who are looking for a bit lower price than the Grand Hyatt. I have some great contacts at this resort who take very good care of my clients so I feel confident offering the Kauai Marriott Resort as a great option for honeymooners and families alike.
