Iberostar Paraiso Lindo
My husband and I took our two boys, ages 11 & 9, for a 4 night getaway to Iberostar Paraiso Lindo in Riviera Maya. We wished we could have stayed longer! The resort was beyond our expectations! Everything is granite, travertine or tile and impeccably clean… even the public restrooms! The room was of standard size, we were lucky to get an oversized balcony too. Each day we came back to another new “towel animal”. The pools are wonderful! We especially enjoyed the Wave Pool that runs 6 times a day for 20 minutes… boy did my legs get a workout!! The lazy river was nice too. The meandering pool was big and just the right temperature. All the pools are treated with salt rather than chlorine… but not salty like the ocean, so your eyes didn’t burn anymore than it would if it was chlorine… nice to see them going “green”. The pools and pool decks are very clean! The beauty of the lounge chairs was that they have palapas everywhere, so you could get out of the sun. The beach was the same way with palapas everywhere. Both the pool areas and the beach had waitresses walking around to take your drink order, which was nice to just sit and keep reading. The activities throughout the day where great, not only for our kids, but for ourselves as well. We took part in archery, air gun target practice, pool & beach volleyball, beach soccer and pool games of all kinds. You can even get in on the different tournaments like ping pong, archery and air gun and get on stage! Their entertainment staff, the Star Friends, were there to aid in all the activities and even teach you. We got to know Kari, from TX and Daniel, from Mexico City… they were AWESOME with our boys and us too! The nightly entertainment was way better than I expected. Their dancers put on one heck of a show and each night is a different theme. We really enjoyed Boogie Nights the most!
The food was way above my expectations! We ate at the Cajun restaurant, Jambalaya, the first night and it was probably my favorite of the trip. The 2nd night we went to the Japanese Steak house, Hirishu, and the chef was great and the food excellent. Night 3 we went to La Marina, the Mediterranean restaurant, and the seafood was absolutely fantastic! You do have to get past the heads still on the shrimp and lobster, but the mussels were awesome, salmon great, tuna great and scallops delicious! We felt like pigs each night as we left. Our 4th night was at the buffet and it was good as well. Pretty much standard world-wide fare to appeal to all. The only thing we didn’t like, was that men had to where long pants to the ala carte restaurants. In 92 degree heat, that is just painful.
The drinks were NOT watered down at all. In fact, my husband considered ordering an extra Coke for his Jack ‘n Coke as it was so strong! They had a Drink of the Day that was usually some fruity cocktail and most had Vodka in them. They were yummy!
The staff was always helpful and delightful. Even just walking around the staff would always say Hola. The grounds are constantly being worked on, which was nice to see that they are continually trimming, shaping and keeping up the grounds. FYI - stray cats roam the place… they are harmless and the resort asks that you not feed them. Down at the beach, the Coatis are beggars, but they too are harmless and actually fun to watch.
We left wondering when we were going to come back! I highly recommend this for all ages.
