Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa
The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa will fulfill your vision of an authentic Hawaiian resort. One frequent request from clients as they consult with me about where they’d like to stay while in Hawaii, is that they stay in a resort that feels Hawaiian. They don’t want to be in a resort that could be Anywhere, USA; they want it to reflect the tropical ambience so they have a full Hawaiian experience. That is Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa on world-famous Kaanapali Beach. You know you’ve arrived in Hawaii the moment you drive up the palm-tree lined driveway to the porte cochere, where an aloha shirt-clad valet takes your keys, and a beautiful Hawaiian gal drapes you with fresh orchid leis.
The lobby is open-air and features the signature Hyatt atrium. Lush plants catch the trade winds from the ocean, koi lagoons meander, and exotic birds (including tropical penguins!) add a distinctively Hawaiian touch. The grounds and landscaping are spectacular: palm trees, hibiscus, anthurium, ferns, plumeria, bromeliads, and torch ginger create a tame jungle. The trade winds wafting off the ocean carry the scent of all these plants for a perfume-scented air.
Extensive use is made of myriad waterways: thundering waterfalls, bubbling lava-rock streams, and lazy koi and swan lagoons. Two gigantic freeform pools are connected by two waterfalls and a grotto that houses a near-swim up bar. Very romantic! Rope and stone bridges and narrow pathways invite strolling at any time of day, but sunset strolls with the surf a few yards away is particularly romantic.
From its perch directly on Kaanapali Beach, any kind of water sport can be enjoyed, from wading to swimming to snorkeling to kayaking. Just lounging on Hyatt’s beach is a delight since you look directly across at the islands of Lanai and Molokai. And at sunset, the sun dips right between those two islands, giving Hyatt Maui guests incredible sunset views nightly (I highly recommend the deluxe oceanview rooms at this property because the views simply cannot be beat or duplicated elsewhere; imagine your own private sunset dinner on your oceanfront terrace or sunset cocktails on your terrace before heading out for a romantic evening).
Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa has a full-service ocean activity center for convenience. Hyatt Kids Camp is justifiably popular (and their family-friendly pool is simply adorable with larger-than-life fish and turtles squirting water and a sandy bottom). And they recently doubled the size of their spa-their indigenous spa therapies are a must. And for the real romantics, ask for a private ‘hale’ (bungalow) by the ocean for your spa treatment.
The rooms’ luxury quality is equal to the luxury of the grounds. The regular rooms are approximately one third to one half larger than a standard hotel room, with a deep plush bed, sitting area with sofa, coffee table, chairs and table. The “lanai” (balcony) has chairs for relaxing into views of the ocean or the lush gardens.
Large bathrooms, plush robes, coffeemaker with Kona-blend coffee, and mini-fridge top off the in-room amenities.
The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa has various shops on-site-from casual to luxury. It also has many restaurants and lounges, from casual to gourmet (including a happening-nightclub). After-dinner entertainment is complimentary and varied to complement your Hawaiian experience.
Its location in West Maui on Kaanapali Beach is really perfect. Within walking distance are scores of other restaurants, bars, shops, and the Hyatt actually begins the start of the approximately 1 mile-long Kaanapali Beach. It’s truly a wonderful retreat for romantics, for families, for young adults, and for older adults! If you want a truly authentic Hawaiian resort that fulfills your sense of what Hawaii should look and feel like, then Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa is it. I always feel energized and in love with life when I stay at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa. Let me know if you would like more information about this lovely resort.
