Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort Montego Bay

I just returned from the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I found the hotel to be a good value for the money you pay. The hotel is a little older, but most of the rooms have been updated. The bathrooms were on the small side, but they were clean and stocked with shampoo and lotion. There is a balcony or terrace for each room. I was in the middle category-a partial oceanview on the third floor. I had a view of the mountains and could see the ocean through the trees. They have a new pool area in the middle of the complex. Near building 7 there is an adult pool which also has a swim up bar. There are several little cove areas with palapas. There is a small island right off shore that you can walk across to and there are lounge chairs there also. Chairs are grabbed very early in the morning-so you want to get out and throw a towel over the chairs you want. You sign your towels out and I found that most people exchange their wet towels for dry ones near the end of the day-so you have them early the next day to save your chairs.

I found the food at the Holiday Inn Sunspree to be good. There is a buffet restaurant and a couple of reservation restaurants. The buffet changes items every day. There is a pasta bar every lunch time, along with a pizza oven-and hot and cold items. At night there is a carving station with a different meat. There is an Italian restaurant that was quite good. They had a tenderloin wrapped in bacon that was awesome. The Seabreeze restaurant has pork fajitas that were wonderful. There are also a couple of beach bars that serve food during the day. One has good grill cheese sandwiches and french fries-while the other has good nachos with cheese-add a strawberry daiquiri and you are good to go. The bars use local liquors that are quite potent and they are not afraid to put a lot in each drink. The lobby area is open air and pleasant and the staff is very helpful and eager to please.

There is a children’s and teen club, along with a small electronic casino and a couple of gift shops. There are also 4 tennis courts, a basketball court, shuffleboard, and a small mini golf. There is a fitness center that has 3 treadmills, a couple of ellipticals, 2 recumbent bikes and all the basic Cybex machines. I usually work out in the morning and found a machine available whenever I wanted one.

All in all, I found the hotel to be a good 3* property and would not be afraid to send clients there.
