Hilton Moorea Lagoon

The Hilton Moorea Lagoon hotel in Tahiti was not quite visible from the street, its down a small hill and what a delight when we arrived at the hotel. Such a beautiful area. The hotel encompasses large and beautiful grounds with 106 rooms including 54 bungalows. There are regular bungalows and over the water bungalows, the most expensive being all the way out in the water. When you are in the Bungalows you can turn off all the lights, look on the floor and see the glass spot with the fish swimming. There is a light this little spot giving you a magnificent and very romantic setting for a wonderful honeymoon. The rooms are quite spacious and even the Garden and Cceanview rooms are very large. The hotel has a beautiful pool and a lovely white beach. On this part of the island you have powder white sand that feels absolutely wonderful between your toes. There is a lovely restaurant with water views and a small Café where you can grab a quick cup of coffee. The service at the restaurant was very good and the people are most gracious in Tahiti.

I think the surprise to me about the Tahitian Islands was the mountainous structure of the island. Behind the Hilton Moorea Lagoon hotel there are beautiful mountains. There is a wonderful 4-wheel jeep drive tour with a driver. Tthis is a must for all visitors as the views when you reach the top of the mountain are magnificent. Along the way there were very large banana trees and papaya trees. Going via Jeep is the best way to travel as some of the areas are quite narrow and there is no way you would be able to appreciate the beauty of Moorea without getting to the top with the Jeep.

While on my trip I did get a change to see Bora Bora; however, we did not have a chance to visit any hotels while there. From a distance I did see the Le Meridien with its Motu’s, small private huts right on their own beach accessible only by water. These little huts were really neat to see. The water in Bora Bora was just beautiful. In the Mediterranean you have the ocean in the blue green colors, but here in Bora Bora the water colors are blue, green, and specked with little glitters of silver sparkles above the water. It is just fantastic to see and is a must for everyone.
