Grand Wailea Resort

WOW!!! Was my first impression when I was greeted in the open air lobby of the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui, with a beautiful fresh orchid lei. The stunning open air lobby, filled with colorful flowers and amazing sculptures overlooking the deep blue Pacific was an awesome sight. An ice cold glass of passion fruit juice quenched our thirst as we were swiftly checked in.

The bellman was friendly as he escorted us to our deluxe oceanview room. Another wow moment occurred when we saw the size of our room and the fabulous view of the gardens and sea. The marble bathroom was humongous with a soaking tub for two, a glass walled rain shower and double sinks. This was accessorized by a walk-in closet and wet bar area. The room itself had a pillow top king sized bed dressed in 400 thread count linens with lots of fluffy pillows and a full size couch. A 32-inch flat screen TV atop hardwood dressers, a full size desk with wireless internet service and a balcony with adjustable cushioned teak sun chairs, rounded out a perfect hideaway for the next 5 days.

After getting settled in, we went for a walk through the magical gardens filled with flowers of every color, green lawns that looked like putting greens, babbling brooks, fountains and hand crafted bronze sculptures. The dolphin reflecting pool off the main lobby is a real stunner.

An cceanside trail cuts through the property and offers you the opportunity to take a daily stroll along its 2-mile paved route. You can access the Wailea Shopping Center with shops and restaurants and other resorts on the way, as well as passing through a bird sanctuary. The on-site water sports center also organizes lessons in paddle boarding, and reef trips for snorkeling and diving.

The Grand Wailea Resort’s five restaurants and two separate lounge areas offer delightful island inspired and continental cuisine with scenic garden and ocean views. The piece de resistance of the resort is its award winning Spa Grande that offers 50,000 sq. ft. of indulgent luxury. All spa treatments include a complimentary body scrub and use of the hydrotherapy circuit pools.

All in all, the Grand Wailea Resort delivers if you like a large all-service resort.
