Cap Juluca
I recently spent a wonderful weekend at Cap Juluca in Anguilla. Upon arrival I was met by Maurice who took care of my baggage and escorted me to the comfortable guest reception area where I was offered a cool towel and a refreshing drink. Claudette got me acquainted with this beautiful resort, reviewing with me the resort map, pointing out their three restaurants, the water sports area, pool, spa, library, bar and finally my home for the next three nights, Room 5 in Villa 2, an Oceanfront Junior Suite with my own private rooftop terrace.
Maurice then took me and my luggage to my room in one of the resort’s many solar powered golf carts. Along the way he explained that the carts are at guest’s disposal for use around the resort. If you need a cart just hop in - remember to stay on the left side of the road- and off you go! As he escorted me into my Junior Suite, I was blown away by the size. The room was as big as my first apartment! The view from my private balcony couldn’t be beat. Nicely landscaped paths led right to the powdery white sand of Maundays Bay where complimentary kayaks, Hobie Cats, snorkel gear and even the opportunity to try waterskiing awaited me.
Next it was time to check out the restaurants. Blue, their casual beachfront restaurant, didn’t disappoint. The Yellow Tail Snapper was delicious and the Crème Brulee couldn’t be beat. My waiter, Frank, was very attentive and gave me great suggestions of what to see and do around the island.
Though I chose to have dinner in town, I did tour both Pimms and Spice the two on site restaurants open for dinner only. The ambiance and views from both of these oceanfront restaurants were fabulous. Adjacent to Spice is Flights, a wine bar open from 6pm-9pm daily. Here you can enjoy a fine selection of wines and tapas from around the world.
My only complaint about this trip is that my husband wasn’t there with me. Cap Juluca screams romance. It was a bit lonely watching the stars from my rooftop terrace without him there.
I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a quiet getaway - whether it’s a honeymoon, anniversary trip, or just a long overdue weekend break. Cap Juluca will not disappoint!
