I just returned from my third trip to Curacao. I focused on visiting and staying at hotels that are family or Dutch owned. The Avila Hotel is a true gem on this island. This hotel has magnificent views and 3 small soft sandy beaches. The hotel was built so all rooms have great views.I loved the Blues wing. This was the original hotel. For those who like to hear the ocean against the rocks the first floor oceanfront room is for you. You can leave your balcony door open to hear the sound. If you prefer a view of Williamstead and her harbor ask for a second floor room. Caution there is no elevators in this wing. The sunset can be seen from your balcony from either floor.

The Octagon wing also offers magnificent views and this tower does have an elevator. This hotel does several classic concerts. If you have a room overlooking the courtyard you can sit on your balcony to view the concert. Located in this wing is the beautiful 2 bedroom Bolivar Suite. For those who can’t miss something on TV there is even a small flat screen TV built into the mirror in the bathroom.

The third wing is the Belle Alliance. I didn’t get to visit a room here since they were all occupied. The 2 bedroom suite (room 176) even has steps to walk down to its own private beach.

All rooms are air conditioned, have coffee makers, small refrigerators, and complimentary WIFI throughout the property. If you choose to leave your computer home they do have 2 computers you can utilize at no charge.

The hotel has 2 daily shuttles into town for shopping. The Avila is also known for their BLUES Club that has live music a couple of nights per week. This club/restaurant is on a pier with a magnificent view of historic Williamstead. This location offers the best view of the sunset in Curacao.
