Accommodations: You have the choice between a dozen categories of rooms and suites. All have a contemporary look and feel, with blues, greens, and maroon organized into geometric patterns. The modern artwork on the walls adds to the effect, while the polished wood furnishings and black and white photos of landmarks like Buckingham Fountain and Grand Park take it down a notch. Rooms also feel tech-savvy, with iHome alarm clocks/iPod docks, data ports, wireless internet, and the 37" plasma screen TVs. Other amenities include comfy lounge chairs and ottomans, desks, in-room safes, on-demand movies, coffee makers, phones with voicemail, hairdryers, and Portico bath products. All boast Hyatt's signature Grand Beds, with pillow-top mattresses topped with plush linens and your choice of down or foam pillows. Renovations are a regular occurrence.
Dining & Entertainment: On-site, you've got room service that runs from 6:00am-midnight, J's Express, which serves coffee and espresso drinks, light breakfast items, sandwiches, and salads, as well as 4 restaurants. The Bistro at 151 serves breakfast and lunch. The food is excellent, the large windows fill the dining room with plenty of sun, and the free wireless internet draws a laptop-toting morning crowd. Stenson's Chop House is known for its fantastic steaks and seafood. The decor blends turn-of-the-century Chicago with a few modern updates, the wine list has won numerous awards, and seating around the exhibition kitchen lets you watch the cooks in action. There's also Pronto Mama's Italian Kitchen and Daddy O's Pub & Piano Bar; like Stenson's, they're open for dinner only. For drinks and casual meals, no place in town compares to the BIG Bar, which boasts the longest free-standing bar on the continent. The bottles (about 1,400) are stacked so high the bartenders need ladders to reach them, there's a pair of 103-inch plasma-screen TVs, and the drink menu includes 48 oz. cocktails and draft beer in 3 sizes: Big, Bigger, and Biggest.
Recreation: There's a well-equipped fitness center on-site, which stays open 24 hours a day, and on the Concourse level of the connecting Illinois Center Building, you'll find the Spa Di La Fronza, which has a full spa menu, as well as a salon. There's also the Lakeshore Athletic Club, 1 block away, which has everything from spin classes and a 7-story climbing wall to and indoor lap pool and its own full service spa.
