The 446 suites and junior suites have 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds and a patio or balcony with a water, pool, or garden view. All guest quarters have air-conditioning, a hot tub for 2, satellite TV, a coffee/tea maker, an in-room safe, a hairdryer, and an iron and an ironing board. The mini-fridge is restocked daily. TIP: Swim-out suites on the ground floor provide direct access to the pool.
Begin the day with a buffet breakfast, and have a casual a la carte lunch. For dinner, choose among French, Mexican, Mediterranean, Italian, and Asian cuisines. If surf 'n' turf is more your style, there's lobster and steak. Room service also is on call 24 hours a day. Order a cocktail at any of the 10 bars and lounges.
Complimentary non-motorized water sports include kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, and snorkeling. You also can take an introductory scuba diving lesson. For more fun in the water, check out the 2 swimming pools and 2 Jacuzzis. The resort's private horse ranch can outfit you for riding, and the 3 tennis courts are lighted. Go to the award-winning spa and wellness center for a massage and yoga. Casino action spices up your evenings.
A perfect setting for romance by the sea.
Located on the eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with Haiti, the Dominican Republic is a lively and festive nation blessed with great natural beauty and glorious white sand beaches. Its friendly and flamboyant people celebrate life and enjoy sharing their rich history and culture with visitors. Christopher Columbus reached the north coast of the island on his first voyage to the New World in 1492 and gave it its name, which means "Little Spain." The colony of Santo Domingo retains much of its colonial architecture, including some of the oldest buildings in the Western Hemisphere.
This often overlooked country offers one of the best vacation values in the Caribbean, as well as one of the most entertaining. Everything is infused with an irrepressible island spirit that enhances your experience, from finally learning to wind-surf, to exploring a bygone world, or getting swept up into a merengue street dance!
